Life Lessons
Bury the present and squeeze out the past
The ones you endear to never last
Chemical burns and the animalistic
I'm just anohter hardline psuedo-statistic
-- Slipknot "The Blister Exists"
Every day we learn something, some days its something new, other days its a relearning of things we already knew. What I take with me tonight is something new and something old but quickly forgotten. People change and Icy Hot is a diuretic. I talked for a while this evening with "my brother of a different mother" Mike and about our crew from "the good 'ol days." There were a good bunch of us and we were always there for each other. But there was always that one guy, every group of teens had one, the Screech of the bunch. Ours just happened to look like him too. And then there was the guy at the other end, the responsible one that you just knew would go on to be something so much more with potential to spare.
Well, we all have kids now and we've all screwed up along the way in one form or another; and most of us have recovered from our mistakes. You know, people do change and in ways you'd never expect. That all-together guy with a future is, at present, a total and complete failure. Why sugar coat it? Call it like it is, he has totally screwed up his life with one bad choice after another. This is totally unexpected and absolutely predictable in every after school special. Why him? It hardly seems fair really.
Reflecting on this I lubed up my shoulder and immediately had to pee. As I type these words there is a fire growing in my pants. Yes, I washed before I water'd the lillies but still managed to get a nice coating on the ol' twig-n-berries.
Bottom line, people change and relieve yourself before applying liberal amounts of linament. Lessons learned.
